The President’s Address to the Wool Research Association (WRA)

Greetings for the afternoon.
I extend a warm greeting to all of you for the 59th Annual General Meeting on behalf of the Governing Council and the whole team of the Wool Research Association. Regarding the advancement of the Wool Research Association’s (WRA) operations, let me clarify the four primary areas of activity that WRA focused on doing during the year under review, 2023–2024: research and development, consulting/training, testing, and incubator activities.

Cash ManagementI would like to use this occasion to provide you an update on the Wool Research Association’s financial results for the fiscal year that concluded on March 31, 2024. With total revenue of Rs. 913.39 lakhs and expenses of Rs. 511.71 lakhs, the year ending March 31, 2024, had a surplus of Rs. 401.63 lakhs. (Showered a 14% Year-over-Year Increase).

Research and Development

WRA currently has five (5) research and development projects funded by the Central Wool Development Board under the Indian government’s IDWP scheme.The National Jute Board (NJB), Government of India, is currently working on one project with WRA.

Under the NTTM Scheme, WRA is currently working on one project with the Indian government’s Ministry of Textiles.

Under the NTTM program, WRA has sent the Ministry of Textiles two (05) new proposals.

During this time, WRA has inked eight MOUs with various businesses.

Seven (03) research articles written by WRA have been published in national and international publications.
The Patent Office has granted WRA one (1) Indian patent as part of the MOT-sponsored initiative.

Sportech Activities, COE

Establishing the COE Sportech Demonstration Center at L-5 (First Floor)

An agreement was inked between M/s Acosa Sports infrastructure services (ACOSA), Mumbai. Establishment of COE Sportech Demonstration Center on Level 5 (First Floor) and 1200 square meters next to Level 5 for Artificial Turf Testing and Demonstration, etc.

Conclaves for Sportech’s Capacity Building under the NTTM Scheme’s Component II, Marketing and Promotion

“To fill the information / knowledge gap for fast tracking investment decisions in the upcoming opportunities in the Textile domain focusing on Import substitution and Exports enhancement” is the stated goal of this conclave. Ludhiana, Delhi, Bhilwara, Lucknow, Surat, Ahmedabad, Ichalkaranji, Mumbai, Coimbatore, Hyderabad, Guntur, Kolkata, and Bengaluru are the places that need to be covered.

For KVIC, technical consulting is still being done for the development of the Pashmina Wool Project in Leh. The completed specifications for the machinery that was requested to be purchased were compared to the quality standards of Pashmina roving.
