TechnoSport Launches FeatherLite™ Performance Fabric for India’s Running Conditions at Satara Half Hill Marathon

TechnoSport has introduced FeatherLite™, a new performance fabric engineered specifically for Indian running conditions, alongside the official event jersey for the 15th edition of the Punit Balan Group Presents Satara Hill Half Marathon Powered by TechnoSport. The launch marks the beginning of the company’s three-year association with the marathon covering the 2026–2028 editions.

The launch ceremony was attended by Shri Nikhil Pingle, Superintendent of Police, Satara, representatives of event partners, members of the Satara Runners Foundation, volunteers and the RunSatara community.

Developed for Satara’s challenging hill course and local weather conditions, the jersey is designed to support runners through varying elevations, sustained physical effort and prolonged outdoor exposure. TechnoSport said the fabric was developed using its in-house research and development capabilities together with its vertically integrated manufacturing operations.

Lightweight Construction for Endurance Running

The jersey is manufactured using an 80-denier bicomponent filament yarn with a 120 GSM fabric construction and weighs approximately 94 grams. According to the company, FeatherLite™ combines lightweight construction with durability while its proprietary opaque-mesh structure promotes airflow and heat dissipation without compromising opacity or appearance.

The moisture-management system is built into the fibre through capillary channels that move sweat away from the skin and across the fabric surface for quicker evaporation. Since the moisture-management functionality is integrated into the filament, it is designed to remain effective through repeated washing.

Performance Features

FeatherLite™ incorporates several functional properties intended for endurance activities, including:

  • Permanent moisture management at the fibre level
  • Four-way stretch for improved mobility
  • Anti-static performance
  • Proprietary antimicrobial technology to help inhibit odour-causing bacteria
  • UPF 50+ protection capable of blocking up to 98% of harmful UV rays
  • Lightweight, breathable and non-clingy fabric construction

According to the company, these features are designed to help maintain comfort as running intensity increases.

Supporting India’s Running Community

Organised by the Satara Runners Foundation, the Satara Hill Half Marathon is recognised as one of India’s challenging hill running events. The 2026 edition is expected to attract more than 10,000 runners and will be held under the theme “Pace for Peace,” encouraging participants to promote peace within themselves, their communities and the wider world.

The partnership also reflects TechnoSport’s Real Movement philosophy, which aims to encourage participation in physical activity beyond competitive sports by making activewear more accessible to everyday consumers.

Speaking about the launch, Sandeep Jhunjhunwala, Director, TechnoSport, said:

“The Satara Hill Half Marathon gave us an opportunity to develop a jersey around the actual conditions runners will experience on the course. FeatherLite™ brings together our understanding of Indian conditions, fabric engineering and vertically integrated manufacturing capabilities to deliver meaningful performance benefits. The association also brings our Real Movement philosophy to life by encouraging more people to embrace movement and participate in India’s growing running culture.”

Puspen Maity, CEO, TechnoSport, highlighted the company’s presence in Western Maharashtra, stating:

“Western Maharashtra has always been an important market for TechnoSport, with Pune, Kolhapur and the surrounding regions consistently ranking among our strongest performing markets. It’s a geography where running, outdoor activity and fitness are deeply embedded in the culture, making the Satara Hill Half Marathon a natural platform for us.”

Commenting on the collaboration, Patralika Agrawal, Head of Marketing, TechnoSport, said:

“Our ambition has always been to democratise activewear while building products that are purposefully engineered for Indian conditions. Beyond introducing a new performance fabric, this association reflects our commitment to investing in communities that have embraced the brand and to creating products that are designed around the way India moves. As we continue to champion Real Movement, our goal is to inspire more people to participate in running with products created specifically for them.”

Alongside the jersey launch, TechnoSport also unveiled the FeatherLite™ product film, showcasing the development process and fabric engineering behind the new performance textile.

Founded in 2007, TechnoSport manufactures activewear at its production facility in Tiruppur, Tamil Nadu, and currently operates more than 60 exclusive brand outlets while expanding across product categories and markets.
