The CBE JU grants the SSUCHY-Next consortium €6.7 million so they may build high-performance circular bio-based composites from hemp and surpass the accomplishments of the earlier SSUCHY project. fiber and bio-based polymers for use in industrial settings.
Biobased Composites and Materials
HEMP INNOVATION | ENDURING PRODUCTION
KEY POINTS
- A €6.7 million award from the “Circular Bio-based” private-public cooperation in Europe
Europe – Collaborative Enterprise
- Increasing the production of hemp fiber and using bio-based resins to create high-performing bio-based composites
The SSUCHYNext partnership has been awarded €6.7 million by the Circular Bio-based Europe Joint Undertaking to enhance the production of hemp fiber and create bio-based resins for high-performance bio-based composites. The 17 European partners want to incorporate hemp fiber bio-based composites into new industrial applications by utilizing the results of the preceding SSUCHY project in an Innovation Action up to TRL7 during the course of the next four years. uses (12.6 m wind turbine blade, large-scale items made from mold compound, such as façade panels, wood-based building supplies. The project began on September 18 and 19, 2024. in Leuven, Belgium, and its primary areas of interest consist of:
- Establishing reliable value chains for the supply of hemp fibres and fabrics and the
production of bio-based resins - Expanding the uses for bio-based composites and evaluating them in
industrial goods
- Showcasing the bio-based materials’ sustainability and circularity
