GKD and KnitMesh Join Forces in H₂ & Mobility Sectors

On March 31, 2025, GKD – Gebr. Kufferath AG, the global leader in technical mesh solutions, announced a strategic partnership with UK-based KnitMesh Technologies, a leading provider of knitted wire mesh solutions. This collaboration aims to merge their complementary expertise to deliver innovative, integrated solutions for the hydrogen (H₂) and mobility industries across Europe and the USA.

A key focus will be on creating complete systems for hydrogen production—particularly for alkaline electrolysis—by combining GKD’s technical mesh with KnitMesh’s elastic knitted components. The partnership will also enable full cell assemblies and bipolar plate solutions to support the hydrogen economy.

In the mobility sector, the integration of knitted and woven mesh solutions opens new possibilities for vehicle manufacturers and suppliers. Both companies will now offer expanded product lines that incorporate each other’s technologies, enhancing design flexibility and performance.

Dirk Leibel, GKD’s Key Market Manager for Energy and Mobility, emphasized the synergy: “By combining our wire weaving capabilities with KnitMesh’s expertise in knitted wire, we’re streamlining the value chain and delivering comprehensive solutions to our customers.”

Peter Evans, Managing Director of KnitMesh Technologies, added, “This partnership establishes a new industry benchmark. Together, we’ll provide a full range of mesh-based products and multi-component assemblies with unmatched quality.”

The companies also plan joint market development and customer service initiatives, including cross-training for their sales teams. Their first joint appearance will be at the World Hydrogen Summit in Rotterdam from May 20–22, 2025.
