Apparel Impact Institute (Aii) has published its 2024 Annual Impact Report, spotlighting key advancements in reducing greenhouse gas emissions across the apparel and footwear supply chain. The report outlines how Aii’s initiatives have led to a total of 8.58 million metric tons of CO₂e emissions reduced, with 2.65 million metric tons achieved in 2024 alone.
Now midway toward the fashion industry’s 2030 climate target—a 50% emissions cut to stay within the 1.5°C pathway—Aii emphasizes both the progress made and the urgency for further action.
So far, Aii has mobilized $156 million toward decarbonizing the supply chain, aiming to unlock $2 billion by 2030. Their Climate Solutions Portfolio continues to back scalable, innovative technologies that deliver measurable climate benefits.
Key highlights from 2024:
- 49% more CO₂e emissions reduced over useful life than in 2023
- 1,261 facilities and 9,689 farms engaged globally
- Launched Low-Carbon Thermal Energy Roadmap to support cleaner energy adoption in textiles
- Expanded supplier financing tools and decarbonization pathways
President Lewis Perkins states, “The fashion industry is at a pivotal moment—if we fail to accelerate, the environmental and economic costs will be devastating. But the solutions exist, and the momentum is real.”
