New Performance Materials unveils versatile innovative fine denier spunbond nonwovens for applications

Weinheim, April 22, 2025 – Freudenberg Performance Materials has introduced its latest innovation in fine filament nonwoven technology, delivering versatile and customizable spunbond solutions across multiple industries, including construction, filtration, coating, packaging, and more.

Produced from a variety of polymers—such as PET, PE, and PP—in mono or bico fiber formats, these new fine denier spunbond nonwovens offer exceptional flexibility, strength, and adaptability. Material weights range from 17 to 140 gsm, with fiber titers between 2.5 and 3 dtex. They are thermally bonded through either flat calendering or point sealing, resulting in a uniform, high-performance fabric surface.

Key Benefits Across Applications:

  • Construction: Ideal for roofing and façade membranes, vapor barriers, and house wraps. The materials provide high nail tear strength, UV resistance, and thermal stability—particularly when composed of PET.

  • Filtration: Under the Filtura® brand, these materials enhance liquid filtration efficiency for coolants and lubricants. They also serve as support layers for nano and activated carbon filtration media.

  • Packaging & Dehumidification: PET/PE versions support rapid, chemical-free pouch production with high abrasion resistance and hot sealing capabilities—perfect for desiccant bags.

  • Coating Industry: Excellent as coating substrates for depilatory strips and laminating applications, offering mechanical strength, thermal stability, and customizable surface properties.

Other applications include agriculture (crop covers), decorative uses, and various industrial or consumer needs.
