Signature Management in modern warfare involves the control and reduction of various detectable signals, including electromagnetic, acoustic, thermal, and visual signatures. In today’s battlefield, emissions from weapons, vehicles, equipment, and even personnel play a critical role in the enemy’s situational awareness. Therefore, effective signature management has become a strategic priority for defence forces worldwide.
Military personnel and equipment are protected against detection across the entire electromagnetic spectrum, including ultraviolet (UV), near-infrared (NIR), thermal infrared (IR), and radar frequencies. Let us understand Electro Magnetic Spectrum:
Military forces integrate several of these technologies and strategies to work in combination, often in a layered defence strategy. The key objective is to minimize exposure time and operating ranges while ensuring that assets maintain combat effectiveness and the ability to strike when necessary.
Signature management is not a one-size-fits-all solution but rather a series of options that depend on the environment, the mission at hand, and the specific threat profile. As technology evolves, so do the ways in which both offensive and defensive signature management techniques are developed and deployed.
Entremonde has developed over 30 products for the Indian military, including Multi-Spectral Camouflage Net (MSCN), Mobile Camouflage System (MCS), multispectral camouflage personal equipment, camouflage tents, camouflage paints and stickers, and CBRN suits.
MULTI-SPECTRAL CAMOUFLAGE NET (MSCN):
Entremonde is recognized as the first qualified Indian company to supply Multispectral Camouflage Netting (MSCN) equipment to both the Indian Army and the Indian Air Force.
Signatures of MSCN:
- Protection from the entire Electromagnetic Spectrum – UV, Visual, Near IR, Thermal, and RADAR detection.
- Reversible terrain, low weight, with clear visibility from inside.
- Fire Retardant, Light Weight, High Tear and Breaking Strength.
- Telescopic Support Structures with non-sagging shape disruption for easy and quick deployment (with accessories).
- Support system is supplied with each MSCN and it contains Telescopic poles, ground stakes/anchors, repair kit (fabric patches, mesh & edge cord, thread, needle & scissors).
- Successfully supplied 30,000 MSCN equipment across 30 consignments.
MOBILE CAMOUFLAGE SYSTEM (MCS):
A multispectral camouflage system for vehicles is becoming increasingly important in modern warfare and defense technology. These systems are designed to help vehicles avoid detection across multiple spectral bands, including visible light, infrared (IR), radar, and sometimes even ultraviolet (UV) or acoustic frequencies. The idea is to provide protection from a wide range of sensors and detection methods employed by modern military forces.
These systems increase the vehicle’s ability to remain undetected, improve force protection, and enhance operational mobility, all of which are critical in modern warfare.
- Protection from the entire electromagnetic spectrum – UV, Visual, Near IR, Thermal, and RADAR detection.
- Reduces chances of detection by >80%.
- Lightweight, fire retardant & easy to fix.
- Effective in both low and high temperature conditions.
MULTI-SPECTRAL CAMOUFLAGE PERSONAL EQUIPMENT (MSPCE) – Ghillie Suit
Multi-Spectral Camouflage Personal Equipment (MSPCE) refers to a type of camouflage gear designed to help individuals blend seamlessly into a variety of environments by reducing their visibility across multiple spectral ranges, such as visible light, infrared (IR), and thermal signatures.
- MSPCE includes Ghillie/ Sniper Suits, UV Sniper Tents, Ponchos, and Thermal Blankets.
- Undetectable by sophisticated Thermal Cameras and Night Vision Goggles.
- Fire Resistant, Breathable, Light in Weight.
- Quick to wear/ deploy
