India’s textile and apparel exports continued to reflect resilience in July 2025, maintaining a steady growth trajectory despite mixed global trade conditions. According to quick estimates from the Directorate General of Commercial Intelligence & Statistics (DGCIS), exports of key textile commodities stood at USD 3.10 billion, up 5.37% from USD 2.94 billion in July 2024.
For April–July 2025, cumulative exports reached USD 12.18 billion, marking a 3.87% increase over USD 11.73 billion in the same period last year.
Segment Performance:
- Readymade Garments (RMG): July exports reached USD 1.34 billion, up 4.75% year-on-year. April–July cumulative exports rose to USD 5.53 billion (+7.87%).
- Cotton Textiles (including yarn, fabrics, made-ups, and handlooms): July exports grew 5.17% to USD 1.02 billion. Cumulative exports remained steady at USD 3.88 billion.
- Man-made Fibre (MMF) Textiles: July exports rose 4.05% to USD 422 million, with April–July exports up 1.13% at USD 1.59 billion.
- Jute Manufacturing (including floor coverings): July exports surged 26.35% to USD 32.4 million. Cumulative exports grew 15.78% to USD 126.1 million.
- Carpets: July exports grew 8.05% to USD 133 million. Cumulative exports rose 3.57% to USD 503.9 million.
- Handicrafts (excluding handmade carpets): July exports climbed 10.01% to USD 153.4 million. Cumulative exports reached USD 552 million (+0.92%).

Exports across six major textile commodity groups surpassed USD 3.1 billion in July 2025, supported by strong demand for garments, jute, carpets, and handicrafts. India’s performance showcases its diversified strengths spanning cotton, MMF, traditional crafts, and eco-friendly jute.
Schemes such as RoSCTL, RoDTEP, PLI for Textiles, PM MITRA Parks, and the National Technical Textiles Mission are driving modernization, innovation, and diversification, while SAMARTH equips workers with critical skills.
Despite global uncertainties, India’s textile sector continues to be a strong driver of employment, exports, and economic growth.
