Union Minister Giriraj Singh and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav convened an interactive investor meeting in Delhi focused on investment opportunities in the PM MITRA Park initiative. The session engaged leading industrialists and stakeholders from the textile sector.
Speaking at the event, Giriraj Singh praised CM Yadav’s leadership, remarking that he had the ability to follow the path of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He noted that the PM MITRA Park announcement had fulfilled a longstanding industry demand and emphasized the government’s commitment to supporting the sector with favorable policies. “The industry has taken a resolve with the country, and the Prime Minister stands with the industry,” Singh affirmed.
He further highlighted the importance of tackling the grey market and reminded participants of the government’s backing of MSMEs during the COVID-19 pandemic. Singh also hinted at positive outcomes from the GST Council meeting, saying, “You’ll get the news tonight that the government is firm with you.”
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav underscored that the PM MITRA Park in Dhar, Madhya Pradesh, covering 2,000 acres, would particularly benefit local and tribal industries while fostering inclusive development.
Earlier in March, Giriraj Singh informed Parliament that each PM MITRA Park is expected to generate around three lakh jobs (direct and indirect) across the textile value chain, including spinning, weaving, processing, printing, and garment manufacturing. The scheme has a financial allocation of ₹4,445 crore for 2021–22 to 2027–28.
The government has approved seven PM MITRA parks in Tamil Nadu (Virudhnagar), Telangana (Warangal), Gujarat (Navsari), Karnataka (Kalaburagi), Madhya Pradesh (Dhar), Uttar Pradesh (Lucknow), and Maharashtra (Amravati). These hubs will build integrated ecosystems aligned with the government’s 5F vision – Farm to Fibre, Fibre to Factory, Factory to Fashion, Fashion to Foreign.
In addition to PM MITRA, the government continues to strengthen the textile sector through several schemes such as the PLI Scheme for MMF, Technical Textiles, and Apparel, the National Technical Textiles Mission, SAMARTH for skill development, ATUFS for modernization, Silk Samagra-2, and programs for handloom and handicrafts development. These initiatives collectively aim to attract investment, create employment, boost exports, and modernize India’s textile value chain.
