Baldwin TexCoat® G4 Validated as Sustainable Textile Solution

BW Converting announced that Fashion for Good and the Apparel Impact Institute (Aii) validated its Baldwin TexCoat® G4 precision spray finishing system. After extensive trials and analysis, Aii added TexCoat G4 to its Climate Solutions Portfolio Registry. Therefore, the system is now recognized as a technology that actively reduces carbon emissions and resource consumption across the global textile supply chain.

How TexCoat G4 Operates
TexCoat G4 replaces conventional pad-based finishing with non-contact precision spray technology. Consequently, it applies chemicals only where needed. The system delivers:

  • 40–50% energy savings
  • Up to 50% reduction in water and chemical use
  • Elimination of chemical waste during job changeovers

As a result, mills can achieve sustainability targets while improving profitability and throughput.

Industry Recognition and Impact
Yiannis Vasilonikolos, Global Sales Leader, Textiles, BW Converting, explained, “Fashion for Good and Aii recognition highlights TexCoat G4’s role as both an innovative finishing technology and a verified climate solution. Our data confirms what our customers experience daily: measurable reductions in energy, water, and carbon footprint, combined with high finishing quality. This acknowledgment strengthens our ability to help textile producers achieve sustainability without compromising competitiveness.”

Customer Experience: Oreste Mariani
Andrea Mariani, Production Director at Oreste Mariani, a leading European textile finisher, described their results:
“Since 2022, we have used TexCoat G4 and observed significant energy and chemical savings while maintaining high-quality finishes. Independent trials, including the BluWin BAT+ study, confirmed these results in real production conditions. In 2024, we installed Baldwin Corona Pure, which improved water repellency and removed an extra washing step. TexCoat G4 and Corona now form the core of our sustainability strategy, reducing environmental impact, cutting costs, and ensuring high-quality fabrics. Additionally, BW Converting’s team provided excellent support and highly reliable equipment.”

Global Field Trials and Registry Inclusion
TexCoat G4 completed successful field trials in Europe and Asia, demonstrating substantial resource savings without affecting fabric quality. Consequently, inclusion in Aii’s registry makes the system visible to apparel brands and retailers seeking scalable solutions to decarbonize textile wet processing.

Operational Efficiency and Industry 4.0 Integration
The patented non-contact spray process also improves operational efficiency. It reduces downtime, enables rapid changeovers, and supports full traceability through Industry 4.0 integration.
