The organisers of the CO2-based Fuels and Chemicals Conference 2026 have opened submissions for the annual “Best CO2 Utilisation” Innovation Award, inviting breakthrough Carbon Capture and Utilisation (CCU) and Power-to-X technologies. The conference will take place on 28–29 April 2026 in Cologne, Germany, with online participation also available.
The award, jointly organised by nova-Institute and CO2 Value Europe and sponsored by Yncoris, recognises technologies that convert CO2 into valuable materials and products. Past finalists have represented a broad range of applications, including CO2-derived polymers, construction materials, synthetic fuels, textiles, food supplements, cosmetics, and personal care ingredients.
An international advisory board will shortlist six nominees, and the final three winners will be selected through a live audience vote during the conference. Submissions are open until 6 February 2026. Application details are available at: https://co2-chemistry.eu/award-application/.
The conference, which typically attracts more than 230 participants from industry, science, and policymaking, continues to serve as a major global platform for advancing renewable carbon solutions. Recent international policy developments—including the EU’s ReFuelEU Aviation proposal, the U.S. Inflation Reduction Act, and large-scale CO2 capture projects in Japan—highlight the rising importance of CCU in global decarbonisation strategies.
The 2026 programme will feature expert presentations, panel discussions, poster sessions, and a trade exhibition, covering technological progress, regulatory trends, and market developments in the CCU sector. Sponsorship and exhibition opportunities are also available.
