Intertextile Shanghai Spring 2026 Sees Record Growth

Intertextile Shanghai Home Textiles – Spring Edition 2026 concluded successfully on March 13 at the National Exhibition and Convention Center, setting new records for both exhibitor and visitor participation. The event hosted nearly 380 exhibitors from six countries and regions and attracted over 28,500 visitors from 83 countries and regions, marking a 12% increase compared to the previous edition.

The fair witnessed stronger international participation, including countries like Portugal and Uzbekistan, alongside prominent Chinese regional industry clusters. These exhibitors showcased a wide array of functional and sustainable home textile products, particularly aligned with the growing “sleep economy,” combining advanced manufacturing with evolving consumer preferences for comfort, aesthetics, and eco-conscious living.

According to Wilmet Shea, General Manager of Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd, the strong turnout was evident from the opening day itself. She highlighted the addition of new participants such as the Uzbekistan Pavilion, which enriched the event’s global appeal. She also noted that the increasing focus on sleep-related innovations and associated fringe events contributed significantly to industry engagement and business opportunities.

Regional innovation and global participation

Chinese regional clusters played a key role in presenting high-performance products across categories such as bedding, quilts, and down materials. Notable innovations included eco-friendly woven and knitted bedsheets, anti-static conductive yarn fabrics, and blends of linen, hemp, and specially treated cotton jacquards. These offerings reinforced the fair’s position as a sourcing hub for high-quality, sustainable home textiles.

A major highlight from international exhibitors was the debut of the Uzbekistan Pavilion, where 12 companies presented cotton-based bedding and bath products. Their jacquard towels, known for distinctive designs and quality, attracted considerable buyer interest, combining traditional craftsmanship with modern sustainable production approaches.

Focus on sleep economy and industry insights

The event’s fringe programme placed strong emphasis on sleep innovation. Key attractions included the Sleep Aid Summit and a dedicated Sleep Aid Display Area, which explored themes such as temperature regulation, tactile comfort, and visual relaxation. New initiatives also addressed specific demographics, including stress-relief solutions for teenagers and comprehensive sleep strategies for seniors.

Additional sessions featured industry experts such as Laurie Pressman from the Pantone Color Institute, who discussed the role of colour in personal expression within home interiors, and Jianming Zhang from Freudenberg Performance Materials, who shared insights into advanced materials for bedding applications.

Exhibitor perspectives

Exhibitors reported strong engagement and high-quality leads. Many highlighted the growing demand for sleep-enhancing and eco-friendly fabrics, with increased focus on recyclability and sustainable supply chains. International participants, including those from Portugal, noted strong interest from global buyers, particularly for premium natural fibre products and innovative materials.

Representatives from Uzbekistan emphasized the fair’s importance as a platform to showcase their cotton-based textile capabilities and connect with international buyers. Meanwhile, established Chinese exhibitors highlighted evolving consumer expectations around quality, sustainability, transparency, and design.

Buyer feedback

Buyers attending the Spring Edition praised the event for its organisation and diverse exhibitor base. Many noted strong sourcing opportunities for high-end and sustainable fabrics, with particular demand for fire-retardant, customisable, and eco-friendly products. The fair was widely recognised as an effective platform for building new partnerships and exploring emerging trends.

Key trends shaping the industry

Industry experts identified several emerging trends, including stronger regional specialisation, the rise of niche and small-scale brands targeting specific consumer needs, and the rapid growth of the sleep economy. Companies are increasingly shifting from product-focused offerings to delivering holistic “sleep experiences,” supported by innovation in fibres and materials.

A comprehensive industry platform

Held alongside Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics, Yarn Expo Spring, CHIC, and PH Value, the event offered a complete textile industry ecosystem—from raw materials to finished products and supply chain solutions. Organised by Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd, CCPIT’s Sub-Council of Textile Industry, and the China Home Textile Association, the fair continues to strengthen its role as a leading global platform for home textile innovation and business development.
