Specialist Sports Adopts DeSL PLM for Digital Transformation

Discover e-Solutions (DeSL), a global provider of digital transformation and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) solutions for the fashion, apparel, footwear, and retail sectors, has announced that Specialist Sports Group Ltd. has adopted its PLM and Purchase Order Management (POM) systems. The move aims to streamline product development processes, enhance supplier collaboration, and strengthen overall operational efficiency.

Headquartered in Southampton, UK, Specialist Sports is a performance sports distribution and brand marketing company with more than three decades of industry experience. The company decided to transition from manual workflows—such as Excel-based tracking, Illustrator-managed Bills of Materials (BOMs), and extensive email communication—to an integrated digital platform offering real-time data visibility and improved process control.

Through DeSL’s PLM system, Specialist Sports will be able to oversee product development activities including BOM management, size specifications, Requests for Development (RFD), Requests for Quotation (RFQ), and quality control within a unified platform. Additionally, DeSL’s POM solution will integrate with Microsoft Business Central, enabling better tracking of development stages, product approvals, and more precise purchase order scheduling to ensure timely deliveries.

Previously, managing tech packs and sample evaluations required extensive manual data entry across multiple tools, increasing the risk of inconsistencies and errors. By digitising these processes, Specialist Sports can now simplify product development, improve data accuracy, and accelerate information sharing with manufacturing partners and brands like adidas through a centralized, real-time portal—eliminating reliance on PDFs and lengthy email exchanges.

Amandine Tentelier, Head of Product Development at Specialist Sports, noted that the shift was driven by the limitations of manual systems, which restricted visibility and added unnecessary complexity. She highlighted that DeSL’s platform enables better information management, improved development tracking, reduced errors in tech pack creation, and more efficient collaboration with suppliers as the company continues to grow.

The implementation also aligns with Specialist Sports’ plans to expand into new sports categories and increase its product development capacity. By automating processes and centralizing workflows, the company is better positioned to support future growth and innovation beyond its current teamwear operations.

DeSL will continue to support Specialist Sports in enhancing operational performance and scaling its business.
