Archroma, a global leader in speciality chemicals for the textile industry, has confirmed its commitment to circularity by achieving Cradle to Cradle Certified® Material Health Gold level for ten product groups under Version 4.0 of the certification standard. These certifications cover dozens of Archroma brands and about 200 individual products, assuring safety and sustainability. Textile mills and fashion brands can use these products confidently to support Cradle to Cradle certification on finished fabrics and garments as the industry increasingly embraces the circular economy.
The Cradle to Cradle Material Health standard assesses the chemical composition of products, ensuring they are safe for humans and the environment. This safety is crucial for circularity, as only safe chemicals allow for safe recycling and composting. Archroma’s Global VP Commercial, Dhirendra Gautam, emphasised the company’s aim to exceed industry standards by promoting cleaner chemistries that prioritise health, environmental sustainability, resource savings, and product durability.
Archroma’s SUPER SYSTEMS+ solutions matrix helps industry players combine processing solutions and intelligent effects for specific applications while delivering measurable environmental benefits. Cradle to Cradle-certified products from Archroma are typically found in the Impact and Impact+ categories. The certified product portfolio includes a wide range of textile dyes such as reactive, acid, disperse, indigo, and sulfur dyes, along with chemical products like pretreatment and sizing agents, optical brighteners, dyeing auxiliaries, and flame retardants.
Notable products include DIRESUL® EVOLUTION BLACK, known as the most sustainable sulfur black dye; AVITERA SE®, a resource-saving reactive dye series; and the Blue Magic pretreatment system comprising water-saving and processing-speed-enhancing bleaching auxiliaries and biodegradable neutralisers. The portfolio also includes high fastness, phenol/bisphenol-free dyes for polyamide, TERASIL® WW dyes with excellent washfastness for polyester blends, and ULTRAPHOR® optical brighteners for synthetic fibres and garments.
Beyond textiles, Archroma also secured Cradle to Cradle Material Health Gold certification for low-sulfide sulfur dyes used in the paper industry, widening their sustainable impact across multiple sectors.
This achievement highlights Archroma’s ongoing leadership in sustainability for the textile industry by providing innovative, safer chemical solutions that support environmental responsibility and circularity efforts.
