Bangladesh’s EU Garment Exports Soar 29% in Early 2025

Bangladesh Strengthens EU Apparel Position with 29% Export Growth

Bangladesh’s garment exports to the European Union surged to $5.98 billion in the first two months of 2025, up from $4.63 billion during the same period in 2024—an impressive 29% year-on-year growth. This increase reflects rising EU demand and Bangladesh’s strengthening role as a global apparel leader.

Key drivers behind the growth include continued access to the EU under the Everything But Arms (EBA) scheme, enhanced factory safety standards, and Bangladesh’s reliable supply chain. As China’s presence in the EU market wanes, Bangladesh is capturing greater market share, especially in high-demand segments like trousers and cotton garments.

However, the sector still faces headwinds. A slight dip in average unit prices, along with domestic issues such as high production costs, energy shortages, and periodic labor unrest, pose ongoing challenges. Despite these, the outlook for Bangladesh’s apparel exports to the EU remains broadly optimistic.
