On May 20, 2025, the Forum panel and the Bangladesh Garment Buying House Association (BGBA) held a joint meeting to discuss the upcoming BGMEA election for the 2025–2027 term. The discussion centered on key challenges in the garment sector and emphasized the importance of stronger collaboration between buying houses and manufacturers to ensure sustained industry growth.
Forum leaders called for a fair and transparent election process and proposed establishing a separate ministry dedicated to the textile and garment industry. The BGBA expressed support for these ideas, agreeing that policy reforms and unity are essential to enhance the sector’s global competitiveness.
The BGMEA election, set for May 31, 2025, is considered a pivotal moment for Bangladesh’s garment industry. Panels including Forum, Sammilito Parishad, and Oikko Parishad are in the race.
