BGMEA and GIZ Strengthen Commitment to Responsible Business in Garment Sector
The Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) has signed a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with German development agency GIZ to expand the impact of the Responsible Business Hub (RBH). This strategic partnership aims to promote human rights, environmental sustainability, and ESG compliance across the country’s garment factories.
Under this agreement, the RBH will launch a digital platform to help factories track and report their Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) performance. In addition, a dedicated support unit will guide factories in preparing for emerging sustainability regulations, ensuring alignment with both domestic and international standards.
The RBH will also offer training and advisory services to help industry professionals adopt better working practices that safeguard both workers’ rights and the environment.
This initiative aligns with BGMEA’s broader sustainability vision, reinforcing Bangladesh’s position as a responsible and competitive global sourcing destination in the apparel industry.
