BKMEA Appoints New Leadership to Drive Growth and Global Trade
Dhaka, August 25, 2024 – The Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA) has appointed Mohammad Hatem, Managing Director of MB Knit Fashion Ltd, as its new President, and Fazlee Shamim Ehsan, Managing Director of Fatullah Apparels Ltd, as Executive President. The decision followed a special board meeting after the resignation of former President AKM Salim Osman, who stepped down due to health concerns.
A founding member of BKMEA, Hatem brings extensive leadership experience, having served six terms as Vice President and more than one term as Executive President. Ehsan, a seasoned industry leader, has previously held key roles including Vice President and Director.
In their new roles, the BKMEA leadership aims to:
- Improve access to finance for industry members
- Streamline export processes in coordination with customs and NBR
- Safeguard EU trade privileges
- Expand market presence in the United States
These initiatives are expected to strengthen Bangladesh’s position in global knitwear trade and support sustainable industry growth.
