Technical textiles courses will be offered at six educational institutions, including IITs.
The National Technical Textiles Mission’s 09th Empowered Programme Committee (EPC) meeting was convened today by the Secretary of the Ministry of Textiles. Under the “Grant for Research & Entrepreneurship across Aspiring Innovators in Technical Textiles (GREAT)” program, the committee has authorised two start ups with grants of around INR 50 lakhs each.
In accordance with the “General Guidelines for Enabling of Academic Institutes in Technical Textiles,” the committee has also authorised a grant of about INR 14 Cr. to six education institutes for the introduction of technical textile courses.
Key crucial areas of medical and sustainable textiles are the focus of the authorised start-up ventures. New B.Tech programs in various technical textile disciplines and applications, such as medical textiles, mobile textiles, geotextiles, geosynthetics, etc., have been suggested by the authorised education institutions.
