In a significant move to boost industrial growth in Virudhunagar, the Union Ministry of Textiles has approved the development of an integrated mega textile park under the PM Mitra scheme, with a budget of ₹1,894 crore. The park aims to attract ₹10,000 crore in investments, primarily focused on technical textile manufacturing and processing, and is expected to create one lakh jobs. Scheduled for completion by September 2026, the project will span 1,052 acres and feature world-class infrastructure, including 13 lakh square feet of plug-and-play space, a 15 MLD common effluent treatment plant, a 5 MLD sewage treatment plant, and housing for 10,000 workers.
State Industries Minister TRB Rajaa stated, “After continuous talks between Team TN led by our Chief Minister MK Stalin and the Industries Department, and Union Textiles Minister Giriraj Singh and his team of amazing officers, the PM Mitra Park at Virudhunagar has been approved at a cost of Rs 1,894 crore.”
He added, “Our dream of seeing Tamil Nadu as the global leader in the technical textile sector will soon be a reality.”
Rajaa also extended his gratitude to senior minister Thangam Thennarasu for initiating the project.
“Tamil Nadu is already India’s top textiles exporter, and now we are only going to get bigger and better,” he said.
