Circ® & Selenis Partner to Scale Polyester Recycling in EU

Textile recycling innovator Circ® has entered a strategic partnership with Selenis, a Portugal-based polyester manufacturer, to produce industrial-scale quantities of Circ® Polyester in Europe. This move is a key milestone in Circ’s mission to bring fully circular polyester and lyocell solutions to market, creating closed-loop systems for the textile industry.

Under the agreement, Selenis will toll process and polymerize recycled Circ® monomers—extracted from end-of-life garments—into high-quality polyester suitable for various apparel segments including fashion, activewear, and basics. This industrial step-up ensures that Circ®’s textile-to-textile recycling technology is implemented at commercial scale.

The partnership not only strengthens Circ’s dual-product circular platform (recycled polyester and lyocell) but also enhances access to high-performance, sustainable materials for global brands, mills, and textile producers.

Circ® CEO Peter Majeranowski expressed confidence in the partnership, calling it a “defining moment” that validates Circ’s twin-material strategy. He emphasized that Selenis has played a foundational role in supporting Circ’s scale-up journey.

Selenis, known for its precision in polyester production, is now helping advance the adoption of next-gen recycled materials in textiles. CEO Duarte Matos Gil reinforced the importance of closing the materials loop, highlighting the urgent need for supportive regulation and technological innovation to make textile circularity an industrial standard.

Eduardo Santos, Global Head of Corporate Strategy at Selenis, added that this collaboration aligns with their broader goal to move beyond plastics into textile recycling leadership—a strategy they began pursuing back in 2022. From pilot efforts in the U.S. to new developments in Italy, Selenis is solidifying its role in reshaping fashion’s environmental impact through textile-to-textile recycling.
