Coupang, Inc., a Fortune 150 technology company headquartered in the United States, has expanded its India Development Center by opening a new office in Hyderabad in July 2025. This launch highlights India’s growing role as Coupang’s fastest-growing global technology hub, strengthening the company’s innovation footprint.
The Hyderabad office underscores Coupang’s focus on deep tech capabilities, including generative AI and core system ownership, to accelerate its global operations. The expansion came shortly before the company reported strong Q2 2025 results, with net revenues reaching $8.5 billion (INR 70,800 crore, up 16% YoY) and operating income of $149 million (INR 1,240 crore).
Harshal Wanjari, Vice President of Engineering, emphasized that India is central to Coupang’s vision of scaling engineering and global capabilities. Himanshu Verma, Vice President of Engineering and India Site Head, added that the India Development Center is not only scaling but also driving innovation through advanced AI and generative AI, powered by top-tier tech talent.
Coupang has also onboarded senior engineering leaders with expertise in AI, cloud infrastructure, e-commerce platforms, and large-scale data systems. The company continues to hire aggressively across Bengaluru and Hyderabad to strengthen its engineering capabilities.
India-based teams play a critical role in Coupang’s core domains, including fulfillment, logistics, finance platforms, fraud detection, cloud infrastructure, and AI-driven automation. Their contributions power Coupang’s signature innovations such as overnight delivery, intelligent fulfillment, and personalized shopping.
