Ghaziabad, May 8, 2025 – The Indian Technical Research Association (ITRA) is pleased to announce that Dr. M.S. Parmar, a distinguished textile scientist and the former Director of ITRA, has officially taken charge as Director General of the Northern India Textile Research Association (NITRA). He will also oversee the academic arm, NITRA Technical Campus (NTC).
With an illustrious career spanning over 32 years at NITRA, Dr. Parmar brings vast expertise in Textile Chemistry, Protective Textiles, Unconventional Fibres, and Textile Quality Control. His accomplishments include:
- Completion of 28 government and industry-sponsored R&D projects
- Filing of 15 patents, with 5 granted
- Guidance to 48 research students across academic levels
- Presentation of 140 technical papers and publication of 137 journal articles
- Authorship or co-authorship of 17 books
Dr. Parmar has received numerous accolades for his research and publications. His groundbreaking work on thermal layers for extreme cold climate clothing drew special recognition, including personal commendations from Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Hon’ble Textile Minister Shri Giriraj Singh.
In 2022–23, Dr. Parmar was honored with the prestigious “Hon. F.T.A.” award by the Textile Association of India, further cementing his legacy in the industry.
