
Brussels, 31 March 2025 – EDANA, the global voice of nonwovens, has released its annual report, showing a 2.6% increase in nonwoven production across Greater Europe in 2024—returning to pre-pandemic levels at nearly 3 million tonnes.
Production also grew by 2.9% in surface area, totaling 85.1 billion square meters, with an average grammage of 34.9 gsm.
While wetlaid nonwovens saw a strong comeback, airlaid declined. Spunmelt remains dominant in surface area.
The hygiene sector remains the top consumer (27% share), with impressive growth in:
- Building & roofing materials: +14.2%
- Food & beverage applications: +13%
- Cotton pads: +4.9%
- Personal care wipes: +4.8%
