Expansion of PPE Care Range with Washing Machines for Firefighter Clothing

Rescue Intellitech is expanding its PPE care portfolio with the launch of its new DE Series washing machines, designed specifically for cleaning firefighter protective clothing. The machines will be officially unveiled at The Emergency Services Show 2025 on September 17–18 at the NEC, Birmingham.

This innovation complements the company’s established Solo Rescue and DeconWasher Pro S units, which are already widely used across UK fire stations for decontaminating helmets, boots, gloves, and breathing apparatus. When combined with Rescue Intellitech’s PPE drying cabinets, the new machines provide a complete on-site system for safely cleaning and drying firefighter gear.

Highlighting the importance of the launch, CEO Martin Valfridsson said:
“Decontaminating all firefighter PPE is essential for reducing exposure to harmful carcinogens, toxins, and particulates. Just like our Solo Rescue decontamination units, these specialist DE Series washing machines are engineered to remove hazardous substances swiftly and efficiently, while preserving the protective properties of the garments themselves. With the introduction of these new machines alongside our Solo Rescue range and drying cabinets, Rescue Intellitech can now provide all the core equipment needed to fully equip a decontamination room, streamlining operations and supporting firefighter health.”

The DE Series machines have been purpose-built for the rigorous demands of fire and rescue services. They come with 15 pre-programmed wash cycles capable of handling everything from heavy-duty textiles to sensitive technical fabrics, ensuring PPE durability and performance.

Three sizes are available—DE180 (180l), DE240 (240l), and DE280 (280l)—suitable for decontamination rooms handling large volumes of clothing. The machines integrate advanced features such as Water Efficiency Drum (WED) technology and a Water Level System (WLS), delivering cost-effective washing with reduced energy and water consumption. Their low-noise operation minimizes disruption in busy fire stations.

Nick Croad, Sales Manager for UK and Ireland, explained:
“We’ve worked closely with fire services to understand their operational challenges, and these machines are a direct response to that feedback. Being able to clean and decontaminate firefighter clothing on-site will help to improve turnaround times, reduce outsourcing costs, and ultimately protect firefighters more effectively.”

Constructed with clinch-mounted durability, the machines are designed for continuous heavy use while keeping maintenance requirements low.
