The 65th edition of Filo, the International Exhibition dedicated to yarns and fibres, officially concluded in Milan with encouraging outcomes and strong participation from the textile industry.
A key highlight of Filo65 was the enhanced collaboration with Lineapelle, creating a productive connection between the yarn and leather goods sectors. This synergy attracted a significant number of visitors who attended both exhibitions, gaining a broader and more complete perspective on textile and fashion trends for the upcoming season.
Despite being a special edition held alongside the Milano-Cortina Olympic Winter Games, which caused some logistical challenges, visitor flow remained steady throughout the two-day event. Exhibitors presented high-quality collections that were widely appreciated by both Italian and international buyers for their focus on style, innovation, and advanced research.
On the second day, Filo welcomed Gilberto Pichetto Fratin, Italy’s Minister of the Environment and Energy Security, who emphasized the importance of the textile sector as a pillar of Italian creativity and economic excellence. He also underlined the government’s commitment to combating fast fashion and promoting sustainability through extended producer responsibility regulations currently being developed for post-consumer textile waste.
The Minister highlighted ongoing measures supporting eco-design, circularity, and the adoption of low-impact fibres, positioning Italy as a global leader in the sustainable transition of the textile and fashion industries.
Filo’s international presence continues to expand, supported by long-standing cooperation with ITA – Italian Trade Agency and the Piedmont Region. This year, ITA brought a delegation of 25 buyers from across Europe, including France, the UK, Spain, Portugal, Ireland, Hungary, and Finland, as well as fast-growing Asian markets such as India and China.
Additional international buyers also participated in the Buyers Days organized by Ceipiemonte under the Piedmont Region’s textile supply chain development program.
Paolo Monfermoso, Head of Filo, stated that despite ongoing geopolitical uncertainties affecting the sector, Filo65 confirmed its role as a leading trade fair thanks to the high quality of products showcased and the professionalism of its visitors. He also noted the strong interest in the third edition of Made in Filo, a fabric collection fully developed through exhibitor yarns and advanced manufacturing techniques.
Sustainability remained central to the event through collaboration with C.L.A.S.S. by Giusy Bettoni, offering concrete case studies and responsible innovation projects such as InsideOut, focusing on ethics, transparency, traceability, health, and circularity.
Monfermoso concluded by thanking exhibitors, buyers, partners, institutions, and Lineapelle for contributing to the success of the edition, and confirmed the next appointment:
Filo66 will take place on 15–16 September 2026 at Fiera Milano Rho.
