X Platform Suffers Widespread Outage, Users Frustrated Worldwide
On May 24, 2025, social media platform X, owned by Elon Musk, experienced a major outage that disrupted access for users around the world. Starting around 6 PM IST, the issue affected both the mobile app and desktop site, preventing users from logging in, viewing content, and sending messages.
In India alone, over 2,200 outage reports were submitted via Downdetector. Users encountered error messages like “Something went wrong. Try reloading,” along with app crashes and significant lag.
X has yet to issue an official explanation for the disruption or provide an estimated time for full service restoration. This marks the second consecutive day of technical issues, leading to rising concerns over the platform’s stability.
