HMSI Invests ₹920 Cr to Expand Vithalapur Bike Plant

HMSI to Expand Vithalapur Facility with ₹920 Crore Investment

Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) is set to invest ₹920 crore to expand its Vithalapur plant in Gujarat, aiming to meet growing demand in the 125cc motorcycle segment. Scheduled for completion by 2027, the expansion will add a new production line capable of producing 650,000 units annually.

Once complete, Vithalapur will become Honda’s largest two-wheeler plant globally, with a total capacity of 2.61 million units per year. The project will also generate around 1,800 new jobs, further strengthening local employment and enhancing supply chain capabilities.

Operational since 2016, the facility hit its current capacity of 1.96 million units ahead of schedule in early 2024. The expansion will boost HMSI’s total annual production capacity in India from 6.14 million to 7 million units.

Holding a 25.37% market share, HMSI sold 5.8 million units in FY24 and recently crossed the milestone of 70 million vehicles produced in India, underlining its strong momentum and long-term growth strategy.
