In a significant move toward greater international cooperation, the Boards of INDA (Association of the Nonwoven Fabrics Industry) and EDANA (European Disposables and Nonwovens Association) have jointly recommended the formation of a new entity—the Global Nonwovens Alliance (GNA). This proposal follows the collaborative direction laid out in a joint Letter of Intent signed in September 2024.
GNA is envisioned as a tax-exempt international federation, with INDA and EDANA as its founding members. The new alliance will serve as a global platform to lead, represent, and foster the responsible growth of the nonwovens industry worldwide. Its mission is to enhance international collaboration while still respecting the autonomy and regional focus of its founding bodies.
The creation of GNA aims to streamline resources and harmonize strategies across borders. By doing so, it is expected to deliver stronger, more coordinated efforts to address global challenges and opportunities facing the industry. These include boosting innovation, improving operational efficiencies, and promoting long-term sustainable growth.
Under this proposal, INDA and EDANA will continue to operate as independent legal organizations focused on their respective regional markets and advocacy efforts. However, through GNA, they will coordinate leadership, programs, and staffing for shared international goals.
Although the detailed structure, transitional phases, and approval processes are still under review, both Boards have expressed full support for the vision behind GNA and are committed to advancing the initiative responsibly. INDA and EDANA have pledged to maintain transparency and provide regular updates to their members and the broader industry throughout the process.
