India Marks Tech Leap on National Technology Day

India observed National Technology Day on May 11, commemorating 27 years since the 1998 Pokhran nuclear tests and the first flight of the homegrown Hansa-3 aircraft. The 2025 theme, “YANTRA Yugantar for Advancing New Technology, Research & Acceleration,” reflects India’s shift from technology adoption to global innovation leadership.

Industry leaders emphasized the critical role of innovation, sustainability, and self-reliance in shaping the future. Ramesh Natarajan, CEO of Redington Limited, highlighted how this milestone coincides with India’s rapid digital transformation and the development of green, resilient tech ecosystems.

National Technology Day has evolved into a key occasion for honoring scientific excellence and showcasing industrial progress. The term YANTRA stands for mechanical innovation and scalable systems, while Yugantar represents a transformative leap in India’s technological path.
