Chemco and Kandoi to Build India’s First Closed-Loop rPET FIBC Plants
Chemco Group, a leader in PET conversion, has entered into a strategic joint venture with technical textile major Kandoi Group to establish two greenfield facilities in Vapi and Dahej, Gujarat. With a total investment of ₹450 crore, this initiative pioneers a fully closed-loop production system for Flexible Intermediate Bulk Containers (FIBCs) made from 100% recycled PET.
These state-of-the-art plants will be among the first in India to feature end-to-end integration—from PET bottle collection and washing to tape extrusion, weaving, and final bag fabrication. This ensures complete material traceability, high product consistency, and a significantly reduced environmental impact.
Key Highlights:
- Recycling Scale: Over 10 million PET bottles recycled daily
- Sustainable Power: Facilities powered by 100% renewable energy
- Low-Carbon Packaging: FIBCs offer an eco-friendly alternative to conventional materials
- Circular Economy Impact: Supports India’s EPR goals and ESG standards
The project also focuses on social inclusion, generating over 2,500 jobs and partnering with municipal bodies to uplift informal waste collectors through structured employment and transparent supply chains.
Commercial production is set to begin in late 2025, with a phased expansion targeting global markets. This venture positions India as a leader in sustainable industrial packaging, combining innovation, impact, and inclusivity.
