Indorama Ventures to Outline Lower-Carbon PET Strategy at Tire Technology Conference

Indorama Ventures will present its approach to reducing the carbon footprint of PET products used in tire reinforcement at the upcoming Tire Technology Conference, scheduled for March 3–5 in Hannover.

Thomas Buss, Global R&D Lead for sustainable filament yarns at Indorama Ventures, will detail how the company is developing lower-carbon PET materials for safety-critical tire applications. The focus will be on solutions that maintain virgin-like performance while lowering greenhouse gas emissions.

The presentation will cover biobased and recycled PET solutions designed for tire cord fabrics and other reinforcement materials. According to the company, its biobased reinforcement PET delivers a reduced product carbon footprint while retaining the physical, mechanical, and processing characteristics of conventional virgin PET. These materials are intended to offer drop-in compatibility without compromising performance, durability, or safety.

Indorama Ventures states that its supply chain is fully integrated and certified by third parties, ensuring traceability and reliability across its product lines.

In addition to biobased materials, the company is advancing multiple recycling technologies. Buss noted that a joint venture with Jiaren Chemical Recycling supports efforts to scale textile-to-textile recycling. Yarns and fabrics derived from pre- and post-consumer textile feedstock are being incorporated into the company’s reinforcement portfolio.

Thomas Buss is scheduled to present on March 3 at 13:45 CET in Room Casablanca at the Tire Technology Conference, hosted at Deutsche Messe.
