Thanks to Trützschler’s advanced TRUECYCLED process, high-quality recycled yarn has made its way into Lotus electric cars. Collaborating with the German firm Brain of Materials, Trützschler played a key role in developing the WYRON truecycled® yarn to meet the stringent demands of the automotive sector. The material is now featured in Lotus’s Emeya and Eletre models, demonstrating that sustainability and high performance can successfully coexist.
Brain of Materials, based in Mönchengladbach, Germany, manufactures the WYRON truecycled® yarn using cutting-edge Trützschler technology. The open-end yarn, made with 50% post-consumer textile waste and 50% recycled polyester (Nm 15), is used in the rear sections of car seats. It delivers a sustainable solution while maintaining the exceptional quality expected from Lotus—renowned for its high-performance and luxury electric vehicles. Lotus commends the yarn for its premium texture, lightweight characteristics, and strong sustainability profile, perfectly matching the essence of the Emeya and Eletre models. Notably, the entire production process—from waste collection to yarn spinning—takes place in Western Europe.
