Interstoff Enhances Output with Svegea EC 200 Systems

Interstoff Group, a leading Bangladeshi garment manufacturer and part of the Pandughar Group, has significantly boosted its production efficiency with the installation of six EC 200 automatic collarette cutting machines from Svegea, a member of TMAS, the Swedish Textile Machinery Association.

Founded in 2000 with just 62 sewing machines, Interstoff has grown to operate across three major divisions—Interstoff Apparels, Interstoff Clothing, and South East Textile—employing over 10,000 personnel and producing 72 million finished garments annually. Its vertically integrated facilities support advanced knitting, dyeing, and finishing with a daily output of 30,000 kg of fabric.

The new Svegea EC 200 machines—two per division—will handle high-speed cutting of cuffs, collars, and neck tapes. These machines were chosen over the EC 300 model due to their scissor-action knife system, which efficiently handles fabrics with seams, offering precision without the limitations posed by pressure-based cutting systems in multi-layered fabrics.

Each EC 200 system features:

  • Speeds up to 40 metres per minute
  • A third knife set for cutting up to three bands simultaneously
  • Svegea’s electronic master/slave drive system for enhanced control
  • Turntable operation for smooth material feed

This setup leads to increased fabric utilization and manpower optimization, according to Shaikh Mohammad Ilias, Director at Interstoff Apparels.

“These machines are helping us increase productivity and reduce material waste while redirecting labor to other key areas,” said Ilias.

Svegea’s Managing Director Håkan Steene praised the collaboration, highlighting the successful partnership with regional agent Tech Cell and the strategic growth of Svegea’s presence in Bangladesh. TMAS Secretary General Therese Premler-Andersson also emphasized Bangladesh’s growing role in the global garment value chain, with government targets aiming at $50 billion in RMG exports by 2025 and $100 billion by 2030.

Svegea will demonstrate its cutting solutions at ITMA Asia + CITME, to be held from October 28–31 in Singapore, at Stand D109, Hall 6, showcasing both semi- and fully-automatic machines.
