Lenzing, Italy Partners Boost Recycled Fiber Quality

Lenzing, together with Marchi & Fildi SpA, Maglificio Maggia, Destro Fabrics, and Madiva, has introduced premium textile solutions made from recycled natural fibers blended with TENCEL™ Lyocell. These collaborations aim to address persistent quality inconsistencies in recycled materials and bring them up to commercial and luxury-grade standards.

The innovations were showcased at Milano Unica 2025 (July 8–10), where the companies unveiled scalable applications of TENCEL™ Lyocell – LF, LFH, and A100, in products ranging from knits to woven fabrics and core-wrapped yarns. These fibers significantly improve the feel, processing stability, and color performance of mechanically recycled cotton, silk, and wool.

“By combining the intrinsic qualities and environmental benefits of our TENCEL™ Lyocell fibers with mechanically recycled cotton, silk, and wool, we are closing the quality gap that has limited the adoption of recycled materials,” said Carlo Covini, Textile Account Manager for Italy and Switzerland at Lenzing.
“This is not just a material innovation, but a way for brands to explore new possibilities in circular fashion without compromising the premium quality consumers expect.”

The project also features Cradle to Cradle™ certified ROICA™ V550 elastane, incorporated into high-performance fabrics for the first time alongside recycled and TENCEL™ fibers.

“This project allows us to further expand our expertise in mechanical fiber recycling,” said Alberto Grosso, Head of Business Development, Marchi & Fildi Group.
“Exploring new potential applications for recycled fibers in collaboration with internationally recognized companies offers a unique opportunity to expand our yarn offering with varieties tailored to specific market demands.”

“We are very pleased that Lenzing has involved us in their projects, as supply chain projects are always the most successful,” said Giovanna Maggia, Board Director, Maglificio Maggia.
“The possibility of using recycled silk alongside TENCEL™ is a great opportunity to combine sustainability and luxury.”

“Destro plays an important role in this collection,” added Alberto Ottocento, Sales Manager at Destro Fabrics.
“Thanks to the collaboration with Lenzing, we can expand our collection by incorporating recycled TENCEL™ fibers… allowing us to offer a range of recycled fabrics that are softer, more comfortable, and more pleasant to the touch.”

Paola Botta, Head of Production at Madiva, stated: “We strongly believe in the value of sustainable research and innovation, and being able to contribute our know-how and Italian machinery to the production of cutting-edge yarns is a source of great pride for us.”

This partnership provides a blueprint for scalable, high-quality circular fabrics, achieving 25%–50% recycled content without compromising softness, strength, or aesthetics.
