Lenzing Launches TENCEL™ Lyocell – HV100: Nature-Inspired Sustainable Fiber

Lenzing Unveils TENCEL™ Lyocell – HV100: Nature-Inspired Fiber Innovation

Lenzing has launched TENCEL™ Lyocell – HV100, a new fiber designed to mimic the natural irregularities found in raw materials. By introducing controlled variation in fiber length (10–28 mm) through Variocut technology, the fiber creates authentic textures in fabrics. This innovation is the first in the TENCEL™ Lyocell portfolio to deliver such natural aesthetics.

Initially launched for denim, the fiber will expand into woven and home textiles in 2026. It aligns with growing market demand for natural appearances and sustainable production. Lenzing will debut the fiber at Kingpins Amsterdam (October 15–16), with detailed information available in the Lenzing Pro Fiber Catalog.

Crafting Natural Imperfections

TENCEL™ Lyocell – HV100 retains all the environmental benefits and consistent quality of LENZING™ cellulosic fibers. The controlled variation in staple length creates subtle surface irregularities and a matte finish, offering a more authentic, opaque texture. This gives fabric makers creative flexibility while delivering a soft but structured feel—ideal for premium denim without washdown shade issues.

Industry Impact and Sustainability

According to Rohit Aggarwal, CEO of Lenzing Group, this innovation addresses the gap between growing fiber demand and supply, offering a sustainable solution for natural aesthetics. The fiber supports closed-loop production with at least 50% lower water consumption and carbon emissions compared to generic lyocell.

Krishna Manda, Vice President of Corporate Sustainability at Lenzing, emphasizes that TENCEL™ Lyocell – HV100 blends sustainability with design versatility, enabling brands to meet environmental targets while offering differentiated products.

Versatility Across Applications

Testing shows strong results for denim, especially in warp yarns, and expanding potential in woven apparel and home textiles. When blended with standard TENCEL™ Lyocell or cotton, it delivers diverse textures and hand-feels. This flexibility allows brands to adjust blend ratios to suit applications such as structured chinos or soft furnishings while retaining moisture control and biodegradability.

Collaboration and Future Potential

Florian Heubrandner, Vice President of Global Business Management Textiles at Lenzing, states that this fiber opens new opportunities for co-creation with mills. The controlled variation enables unique yarns and fabrics, offering potential for market differentiation. Lenzing will display these possibilities at Kingpins Amsterdam alongside mill partners showcasing fabrics using TENCEL™ Lyocell – HV100.
