Maharashtra CM Launches Technical Textile Mission & MSTDC

Mumbai, Dec. 30 (PTI) — On Monday, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis gave authorities instructions to actively support the state’s textile industry. In addition to directing them to create the Maharashtra State Textile Development Corporation (MSTDC) and Maharashtra Technical Textile Mission (MTTM), he underlined the state’s active involvement in Bharat Tex 2025, which is set to take place in New Delhi.

The CM made these statements while reviewing the 100-day action plan from the Department of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj.

In order to boost the local textile sector, the CM emphasised the significance of successfully executing the Captive Market Scheme and called for the invitation of Expressions of Interest (EOIs) to establish technological textile parks.

According to authorities, Fadnavis ordered the establishment of an old-age pension plan to provide social security and assist handloom weavers.

“In order to support and encourage handloom artists, he advocated for the establishment of ‘Urban Haat’ facilities under the Integrated and Sustainable Textile Policy 2023-28. According to an official, he also suggested working with Prasar Bharati to air the premiere of the ‘Kargha’ series, which is about the traditional textile business.

The Chief Minister gave staff instructions about the digitising and automation of programs within the textile department and emphasised the value of creativity and efficiency. According to the official, he also urged spinning mills around the state to use solar energy more frequently.
