Mumbai, 30 March 2025 – The Manmade and Technical Textiles Export Promotion Council (MATEXIL), formerly known as SRTEPC, successfully hosted its Annual Export Award Function on 30th March 2025 in Mumbai. The event was organized to recognize and felicitate member companies for their outstanding export performance during the financial year 2023-24.

The ceremony was graced by Shri Giriraj Singh, Hon’ble Union Minister of Textiles, as the Chief Guest, who presented around 50 awards across various categories in the Manmade Fibre (MMF) Textiles segment. The function also witnessed the presence of senior government officials and prominent industry leaders from the textile sector.

In his address, Shri Giriraj Singh highlighted the global shift from natural fibre textiles to Manmade Fibre Textiles, citing their cost-effectiveness. He emphasized the importance of Research & Development (R&D) and Innovation to promote green manufacturing processes and sustainable practices in the MMF and technical textiles sector. “We must adopt eco-friendly methods and create a business-friendly environment to become global leaders in MMF and technical textiles,” he said.

A major highlight of the evening was the unveiling of MATEXIL’s newly developed Website and Trade Dashboard, an initiative aimed at providing comprehensive trade insights and customized data related to MMF and Technical Textiles. Shri Singh applauded MATEXIL and its Chairman, Shri Bhadresh Dodhia, for this significant development. He noted that the tool would play a pivotal role in policy formulation by bridging the existing information gap, and reiterated the government’s commitment to achieving the ambitious target of USD 100 billion in textile exports by 2030.

In his remarks, Shri Bhadresh Dodhia, Chairman of MATEXIL, emphasized the growing global demand for sustainable and recyclable textiles, especially among international brands and retailers. “This trend is pushing the industry towards developing eco-friendly and circular MMF textiles,” he said. Shri Dodhia also addressed challenges faced by the Indian MMF sector, particularly in the areas of technical expertise and finishing capabilities. He suggested that these gaps could be addressed through strategic collaborations with global leaders and by upgrading technology to align with international standards.

In his closing remarks, Shri Shaleen Toshniwal, Vice-Chairman of MATEXIL, reaffirmed the significance of the Export Awards in motivating and encouraging exporters, especially emerging companies, to excel in the global market.
