Ministry of Textiles-Backed Chintan Shivir to Launch National Flag Recycling Initiative and Transfer Aramid Recycling Tech to Boost Technical Textile Exports

The PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI), along with the National Technical Textiles Mission (NTTM) under the Ministry of Textiles, is set to host a high-level Chintan Shivir on 28 November 2025 in Panipat. The event will take place at Geeta Sarovar Portico, G.T. Road.

Centred on the theme “Panipat’s Textile Industry’s Technical Transformation: High Value, Better Tomorrow,” the Shivir aims to strengthen Panipat’s role as a key hub for technical textile manufacturing and exports, aligning with India’s Vision 2047 goals.

The programme will bring together representatives from the Ministry of Textiles, NITRA, BIS, IIT Delhi, IIT Mandi, financial institutions, and industry manufacturers. The focus will be on government-backed support, policy updates, and funding pathways available under NTTM for entrepreneurs and MSMEs.

One of the main highlights will be the launch of an advanced textile recycling technology developed within the NTTM framework and coordinated by IIT Delhi. The Atal Center of Textile Recycling and Sustainability in Panipat, guided by IIT Delhi, has made substantial progress in high-performance waste recycling and startup prototyping.

During the event, the National Flag Recycling Initiative—executed by the Sewaj Neesim Foundation—will be officially launched. The initiative promotes the responsible recycling of retired Indian flags using specialised processes. The technology for this unique method has been transferred to the Foundation by the Atal Center.

The Shivir will also showcase the Centre’s work on aramid fibre recycling, which enables effective reuse of high-performance aramid waste, offering new opportunities for technical textile industries.

Sessions throughout the day will cover quality standards, compliance, green financing, recycling innovations, circularity, market prospects across GeoTech, HomeTech, Sportech, and Indutech, along with skilling initiatives and cluster-level collaboration.

The event is targeted at MSMEs, startups, manufacturers, institutions, recyclers, and other stakeholders across the textile ecosystem.
