Nigeria’s SON calls on leather and textile companies to adhere

Stakeholders in the leather and textile industries were recently asked by the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) to follow international standards. To guarantee compliance, SON is working with suppliers, manufacturers, and regulatory agencies.

According to Ifeanyi Chukwunonso Okeke, director general of SON, the agency has implemented a strategy to guarantee that MSMEs and other stakeholders participate in the standards creation process by being represented in technical committees.

Domestic media reports quoted him as adding that the country’s leather product quality has significantly improved as a result of SON’s involvement.
