Nonwovens Using Bio-based HDPE

Braskem and Fitesa Advance Bio-Based HDPE for Hygiene Textiles

Braskem, the leading polyolefins producer in the Americas, and Fitesa, a global leader in nonwoven materials, have announced a new milestone: the launch of I’m green™ bio-based HDPE tailored specifically for nonwoven applications in the hygiene industry.

This next-generation bio-based polyethylene, made from sugarcane-derived ethanol, offers enhanced processability, high-speed spinning stability, and a lower carbon footprint—without sacrificing durability or recyclability. Engineered for spunbond manufacturing, it supports the rising demand for sustainable, high-performance materials across the global hygiene supply chain.

With over a decade of experience in the bio-polymers space, Braskem and Fitesa are expanding their reach in bicomponent nonwovens using a material that is not only traceable and recyclable but also compliant with global standards. The product delivers optimal melting and Vicat temperatures, enabling superior filament strength and processing efficiency.

Gustavo Lombardi of Braskem highlighted the importance of this innovation in decarbonizing the hygiene sector, while Ricardo Fasolo of Fitesa emphasized their continued commitment to high-quality, sustainable spunbond fabrics.

Fitesa is showcasing these products at booth 901 at IDEA25.
