Odisha TEX 2025 underscored the state’s rising prominence in the textile and apparel sector, with a strong focus on building a world-class ecosystem for manufacturing, innovation, and employment creation. The first edition of the event was held on July 25.

The summit resulted in the signing of 33 MoUs, generating investment commitments worth Rs 7,808 crore and creating potential employment opportunities for over 53,300 people. More than 160 companies participated, including leading names such as Page Industries, First Step Baby Wear, KPR Mills, Sportking, Adarsh Knitwear, Anubhav Apparels, Bon & Co., and BL International, covering the entire textile value chain—from yarn production to technical textiles.

Notable announcements included the establishment of six advanced textile and footwear parks with plug-and-play facilities, modern workers’ hostels, and multiple skill development MoUs. These initiatives particularly target empowering women with expertise in automated garmenting and textile technologies.

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced enhancements in employment cost subsidies under the Odisha Technical Textile & Apparel Policy 2022, raising support from Rs 5,000 to Rs 6,000 for male workers and from Rs 6,000 to Rs 7,000 for female workers. He also declared that Odisha TEX will become an annual event, celebrating Odisha’s rich handloom legacy while accelerating its move into modern textiles. A dedicated Task Force will oversee speedy implementation, with a goal of creating over 1 lakh jobs by 2030 across upcoming textile clusters.
