Progressive Knit Alliance Takes Full Control in BKMEA Elections
In a landmark victory, the Progressive Knit Alliance has secured all 35 director positions in the Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA) elections for the 2025–2027 term. Held on May 10, this election marked the first time in nearly a decade that members voted to choose the leadership of the influential trade body.
With a clean sweep, the Progressive Knit Alliance now holds complete authority over BKMEA’s executive committee. Their campaign focused on strengthening the global competitiveness of Bangladesh’s knitwear industry, improving labor standards, and promoting sustainability across the sector.
Founded in 1996, BKMEA represents more than 1,000 knitwear manufacturers and exporters, playing a vital role in driving one of the country’s top export sectors. The new leadership is expected to bring fresh energy and progressive reforms to further boost the industry’s growth.
