ReCircle Champions Textile Waste Action on Earth Day 2025

Mumbai, April 17, 2025 – This Earth Day, ReCircle is calling for united action to address India’s mounting textile waste crisis. Aligned with the global theme, “Our Power, Our Planet,” ReCircle urges consumers, creators, and companies to rethink their relationship with clothing and waste.

“With only 1% of pre-consumer and 43% of post-consumer textile waste recycled in India, the problem lies in our mindset—not the waste,” said Rahul Nainani, CEO & Co-Founder. “This Earth Day, we urge everyone to rethink, reuse, and take responsibility.”

ReCircle is advancing the circular economy with tailored solutions that turn waste into valuable resources. In 2025-26, ReCircle will launch a Textile Recovery Facility (TRF) in Mumbai to process and recycle a significant share of the country’s 7,209-kilotonne textile waste.

Through Project Extra Life, ReCircle is transforming post-consumer textile waste into sustainable materials for business use. Alongside textiles, the company also processes dry waste—plastic, cardboard, footwear, and more—using tech-enabled recovery systems.

In its mission to uplift India’s informal waste workforce, ReCircle has empowered over 3,500 Safai Saathis with better wages, formal job opportunities, and systemic support. Additionally, it is collaborating with the Waghri community—traditional textile recyclers—ensuring fair pay, financial inclusion, and dignified work through its new TRF, supported by CAIF.

With 73% of consumers now willing to change habits for environmental benefit (Nielsen), ReCircle urges brands and businesses to take meaningful steps. Partnering with ReCircle offers a scalable and ethical solution for textile recovery, helping close the loop for a cleaner, circular future.
