Tangshan Sanyou, Circ Partner to Scale Recycled Lyocell

Tangshan Sanyou Group’s cellulose fiber division, Sanyou Chemical Fiber, has entered a strategic five-year partnership with Circ, a US-based textile-to-textile recycling innovator, to accelerate the commercialization of recycled lyocell fibers in China and beyond. Under the agreement, Sanyou will purchase pulp from Circ’s first commercial-scale facility—set to become operational in 2028—enabling the production of lyocell staple fibers containing 30% recycled content.

This partnership marks a pivotal step toward increasing accessibility to recycled materials in the textile industry and highlights the importance of collaborative efforts to scale sustainable innovations. Circ’s CEO, Peter Majeranowski, emphasized the alliance as a significant move toward building a truly circular economy in fashion.

With sustainability at its core, the alliance supports growing demand for next-gen materials while ensuring brands have diverse, eco-responsible supply options. Sanyou, which received the top rating in Canopy’s 2024 Hot Button Report for its responsible sourcing and leadership in sustainable fiber innovation, reinforces its position as a front-runner in the global MMCF sector.

Zhang Dongbin, Deputy General Manager at Sanyou, noted that the partnership represents a shared vision for establishing industry benchmarks in sustainability and circularity.
