TechnoSport Signs ₹130 Crore MoU with Tamil Nadu for Erode Manufacturing Expansion

TechnoSport, India’s largest activewear brand, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Tamil Nadu to invest ₹130 crore in the second phase of its manufacturing expansion in Erode.

The MoU was exchanged during the Vettri Tamil Nadu Investment Conclave 2026 in the presence of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay. The investment will focus on expanding the company’s functional activewear manufacturing capabilities while creating more than 500 new jobs in the region.

The latest investment reflects TechnoSport’s long-term strategy of strengthening its manufacturing base as demand for performance-driven and affordable activewear continues to grow across India.

Manufacturing Capacity to Increase by 60%

The Phase 2 expansion will significantly enhance the company’s manufacturing capabilities, increasing activewear fabric production from 25 tonnes per day to 40 tonnes per day by the end of FY27.

The expanded facility will support TechnoSport’s growing portfolio of functional and performance-based apparel while improving production efficiency and accelerating speed to market.

The company follows a vertically integrated manufacturing model, allowing it to maintain greater control over fabric development, production processes, product quality, and supply chain management.

500 New Jobs to Strengthen the Regional Economy

Apart from increasing manufacturing capacity, the expansion is expected to generate over 500 employment opportunities in the Erode region.

Commenting on the development, Sunil Jhunjhunwala, Co-founder and Managing Director of TechnoSport, emphasized the company’s commitment to creating broader economic value through manufacturing investments.

“Tamil Nadu has been an important part of TechnoSport’s manufacturing journey. As we grow, we believe scale should create value beyond products by generating employment, strengthening manufacturing capabilities, and contributing to the wider ecosystem around us. This ₹130 crore investment in Erode represents another important step in that journey,” he said.

He also acknowledged the continued support of the Tamil Nadu government in helping the company expand its operations within the state.

Aggressive Retail Expansion Supports Growth Plans

TechnoSport has built one of the country’s largest activewear distribution networks.

The company currently reaches consumers through:

  • 16,000+ retail touchpoints
  • 20+ states
  • 40+ super stockists
  • 66+ exclusive brand outlets (EBOs)

The company plans to nearly double its exclusive retail presence by increasing its EBO network to approximately 130 stores by the end of FY27.

In addition, the company aims to establish 25 TechnoSport Express stores as part of its next phase of expansion.

₹1,000 Crore Revenue Target for FY27

TechnoSport closed FY26 with revenue of approximately ₹600 crore and has set an ambitious target of ₹1,000 crore in FY27.

The company currently sells more than 25 million activewear units annually, highlighting its strong market presence across both established and emerging consumer markets.

Going forward, TechnoSport plans to continue investing in manufacturing, retail expansion, technology, and distribution to strengthen its position in India’s rapidly growing activewear industry.

Founded in 2007, the company has evolved into one of India’s leading activewear brands, combining textile innovation with affordable performance apparel designed specifically for Indian consumers.

The latest investment in Erode further reinforces Tamil Nadu’s position as one of India’s leading textile and apparel manufacturing hubs while supporting the state’s broader industrial development and employment objectives.
