Weaving & Technical Textiles Meet – Bhilwara 2025

The Indian Textile Accessories & Machinery Manufacturers’ Association (ITAMMA), in collaboration with the Mewar Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI), successfully organized a seminar on “Developments in Weaving Industry and Technical Textiles Beneficial for Bhilwara Textile Industry” on 27th March 2025 at MCCI Hall, Bhilwara, Rajasthan.

The event commenced with a warm welcome address by Mr. D.P. Mangal, President of MCCI, followed by an insightful keynote speech by Dr. R.C. Lodha, Senior Vice President, MCCI.

Key Highlights:

Mr. N.D. Mhatre, Director General (Technical), ITAMMA, delivered an in-depth presentation on opportunities for the Bhilwara textile industry in the area of technical textiles. He emphasized the wide range of innovative applications in sectors such as:

  • Construction Textiles (Buildtech) – Reinforcement materials for concrete and plastics.
  • Geotextiles – Used for soil stabilization, drainage, and erosion control.
  • Automotive Textiles (Mobiltech) – Durable fabrics for car interiors.
  • Medical Textiles (Meditech) – Bandages, sutures, and implantable fabrics.
  • Industrial Textiles (Indutech) – Filter fabrics, conveyor belts, and protective clothing.
  • Agro-textiles – Fabrics for crop protection and weed control.

He also shared technical advancements in loom components and weaving processes, including:

  • Loom modifications for high-performance fibers like glass, aramid, and carbon fiber.
  • Innovations like soundproof guards, automatic fabric inspection systems, LED warp-break indicators, and vibration sensors.
  • Use of IIoT, plasma technology, and encapsulated weaving machines.
  • Introduction of cutting-edge systems for minimizing waste and improving fabric traceability.

The presentation showcased machines such as Braid Mat Weaving Machines, 12-meter-wide tubular fabric looms, and thermo-bonding/coating lines, which are now within reach of the Indian textile sector.

The seminar received an enthusiastic response, with many stakeholders expressing keen interest in adopting technical textile manufacturing in Bhilwara. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr. R.K. Jain, Hon. Secretary General, MCCI, who announced plans for a forthcoming one-day conference focused on product-specific technical textile innovations tailored for the Bhilwara industry.
