
The Foundation for MSME Clusters (FMC), in collaboration with CITI, hosted the 8th FMC Award for Responsible BMOs (Textiles & Apparels) at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi on February 17, 2025. This prestigious award acknowledges Business Membership Organizations (BMOs) that drive sustainability, social impact, and governance excellence within the MSME sector.
Honoring Excellence in Responsible Business Practices
With over 130 BMOs representing 40,000 MSMEs applying, the awards highlight best practices in responsible business. The event was graced by Hon’ble Minister of State for Textiles, Mr. Pabitra Margherita as the Chief Guest.
Award Winners:
- Haryana Environmental Management Society (HEMS) – Awarded for “Promoting Green Environment” at the national/state/regional level for its sustainable waste management initiatives.
- Indian Textile Accessories and Machinery Manufacturers Association (ITAMMA) – Recognized for “Promoting Social Issues” through its B.K. Mehta Technology Networking Mission – 2030, fostering industry-academia collaboration in textile engineering.
- Jayadev Banana Farmers and Artisans Association – Won the district/cluster-level award for Banana Fibre and Bio-Fertiliser, promoting eco-friendly alternatives to synthetic materials.
- Nitya Sangha Mahila SHG Cooperative Society – Honored for empowering women through microfinance and bank loans.
Sustainable Textile Recycling Initiative with Switch Asia – EU
FMC, with support from Switch Asia – European Union, is spearheading efforts to enhance sustainability in India’s textile recycling clusters. Panipat, Bhojpur, and Amroha, which process 60% of India’s textile waste, will benefit from technology upgrades, green financing, and a Digital Product Passport to ensure transparency in waste management. This initiative is set to **transform Panipat into a global hub for sustainable textiles
