Alva Industries, a manufacturer of frameless motors and developer of FiberPrinting™ technology, has announced the launch of the SlimTorq™ STM-190-35. This latest addition expands the SlimTorq™ frameless, slotless motor portfolio by offering enhanced torque capability and precision, catering to high-performance direct-drive applications where compactness and design flexibility are essential.
The STM-190-35 is engineered for high-precision applications including electro-optical systems, gimbals, robotics, and other motion-critical solutions. Its optimized inner-to-outer diameter ratio, combined with a compact axial length, enables efficient space utilization without compromising torque density or control performance.
To support system-level design and evaluation, the new motor is fully integrated with Alva’s TorqStudio design and simulation platform. This enables engineers to analyze motor performance, evaluate winding configurations, and optimize motor selection early in the design phase based on specific application requirements.
Commenting on the launch, Nicolas Giraudo, Chief Commercial Officer at Alva Industries, stated that the introduction of the STM-190-35 further strengthens the SlimTorq™ range by addressing applications requiring higher torque within a compact frameless design. He added that the new size enhances flexibility for system designers, particularly in direct-drive applications where precision and smooth motion are critical.
With the inclusion of the STM-190-35, the SlimTorq™ STM portfolio now comprises nine motor sizes, offering a range of outer diameters and lengths. Each motor can be customized with various inner diameter options, winding configurations, and application-specific modifications.
Manufactured using Alva’s patented FiberPrinting™ technology, the STM-190-35 features ironless, slotless windings with a high copper fill factor and zero cogging. The motor is available with multiple winding options, terminal block designs, and optional temperature and Hall sensors, ensuring enhanced control and system optimization.
