Apparel, Made-Ups & Home Furnishing Sector Skill Council (AMHSSC) has reappointed Premal Udani as Chairman for a two-year term, marking a move that emphasizes leadership continuity. He succeeds Dr A Sakthivel, who has been instrumental in advancing skill development across the sector.

With more than four decades of experience in the apparel and textile industry, Udani brings extensive expertise and leadership experience. He currently leads Kaytee Corporation Pvt Ltd, one of India’s oldest and most established garment manufacturing companies. His involvement with industry bodies, policy institutions, and trade organizations has made him a key contributor to the sector’s development.

During his previous tenure as Chairman of AMHSSC, Udani played a crucial role in strengthening the skill development ecosystem across apparel, made-ups, and home furnishing segments. His leadership helped improve industry alignment, expand skilling initiatives, and enhance capacity building throughout the value chain.

Commenting on the leadership transition, Dr. A. Sakthivel said:
“It has been a privilege to lead AMHSSC through a period of rapid evolution. Premal Udani’s deep-rooted understanding of the global supply chain and his commitment to the Indian apparel story make him the ideal leader to take this council to new heights. I am certain his vision will further bridge the skill gap in our industry.”

Sharing his outlook, Premal Udani stated:
“I am deeply honored by the trust the Board has placed in me once again. Our focus for the next two years will be to further scale our skilling initiatives and ensure that every trainee is equipped with the skills required by modern global brands. Skilling, upskilling, and reskilling will be the cornerstone of India’s ambition to become a global leader in textiles and apparel. I look forward to working with all stakeholders to build a future-ready workforce and drive sustainable growth across the sector.”

Ashish Srivastava, CEO of AMHSSC, also welcomed the appointment, stating:
